The wooden shrine building of Takuhi Shrine is the oldest in the Oki Islands (1732), and has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. This shrine is dedicated to the deity of safe sea voyages. The hike up to the shrine is very enjoyable. Observe some interesting flora and fauna, and enjoy the views out across the inner sea.

This was once one of the highest ranked shrines in Shimane (and Japan). It is dedicated to the deity of fishing and is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Squid come into the nearby bay from autumn \u2013 winter every year. Maybe you can catch a squid when you visit the shrine?\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

Historical documents state that Emperor Godaig\u014d was exiled to the Oki Islands. Some say it was to here, Kurogi. Walk around the area and discover where the Emperor lived. Visit the museum and learn more about exile and history in Nishinoshima (information mostly in Japanese).
