There are two tracks you can choose from on Mt. Takuhi – to the shrine or to the summit.
Shrine Track: The wooden shrine building of Takuhi Shrine is the oldest in the Oki Islands (rebuilt in 1732). This shrine is dedicated to the deity of safe sea voyages. The short 25 minute hike up to the shrine is very enjoyable. Observe interesting flora and fauna and enjoy the views out across the inner sea and listen to birds as you climb to the shrine.
Summit Track : To get to the top of Mt. Takuhi (452 m), the point to turn is signposted in front of the bronze torii gate when you access from the Takuhi Shrine car park. It’s a relatively short climb of about an hour, but please be careful as the road to the top after passing through the torii gate is not maintained.
