To Anyone Planning a Visit to Nishinoshima Town for Sightseeing
Nishinoshima Town has refrained from accepting tourists since this spring in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
During this travel restriction period, we have received many enquiries regarding when visitors would be able to travel to Nishinoshima Town again. After careful consideration, and as the situation of the novel coronavirus in Japan has been changing day by day, it has been decided that from 1st July the town will open for tourism again. On the same day, the Oki-kisen ferry company will resume its standard operation. Also, other tour facilities – such as the sightseeing boat, sightseeing bus, and town museums – will re-open at the same time.
We are very pleased to welcome everyone during this tourist season. In addition, we would like to acknowledge our sincere gratitude for the generous support we have received from the country, the prefecture, the town, and everyone involved in the tourism industry. Without everyone’s cooperation, resuming tourism in Nishinoshima may have taken a lot longer.
Last but not least, we would like to remind everyone that the fear of this virus and the risk of infection have not been eliminated. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation in continuing to practice long-term daily safety measures, such as social distancing, wearing a mask, washing your hands, and avoiding the “Three Cs” (confined spaces, crowded places, and close contact).
Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation.
