The wooden shrine building of Takuhi Shrine is the oldest in the Oki Islands (rebuilt in 1732), and has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. This shrine is dedicated to the deity of safe sea voyages. The hike up to the shrine is very enjoyable. Observe some interesting flora and fauna, and enjoy the views out across the inner sea.
